Window

All Glory is for God.
Anything that I have,
and any Good that I do,
is a Gift from God.
Even if I help bring the light to people,
I am not the light.
At best I may serve as a window.
And like a window,
I should try to keep myself clean and pure
so that I may better help bring the light.
But just as a window serves,
so should I serve.
And like a window,
I should feel no pride in serving.
Merely be content with being filled with the light.
Windmills
April 17, 2016
As the days fly by,
Do not let your inner child wither and die.
Dream Big, Dream the Impossible, Dream Exuberant.
Fight with Faith and Valor, Joust the Giant!
Who is right? Who is wrong? Who is wise?
Look at the world through childlike eyes.
Treat all equally and with respect;
For it is our humanity we must protect.
Dream to be better than a knight errant.
Dream and strive to be God’s servant.
For if you follow God in thought, word and deed,
Do not be surprised at what miraculous dreams will succeed.
Emmaus
April 9, 2016
Sunday after Good Friday Luke tells us
of two disciples walking to Emmaus
Discussing news, the maybe messiah
who was killed, crucified at Golgotha
A stranger joined them for the day’s walk.
They told the news, and he began to talk.
He chides their faith and then teaches the men
who were amazed by his great acumen
Reaching town the man made to walk away,
the disciples urged him strongly to stay.
At the table he blessed and broke the bread.
They recognized him whom they believed dead.
At that moment he vanished from their sight;
proving both the angels and women right.
Jesus was more than the anointed one,
more than prophet, he was God’s only son.
I ever journey in this life of mine.
Even when still, I drift the River Time.
I’d like to think I control my destiny,
But how to chart a river I can’t see.
I long to have an expert at my side.
One who’s walked this path to be my guide.
I worry that my eyes don’t truly see,
or recognize the one sent to guide me.
To you Most High Glorious God I pray;
Have mercy, please send help to light my way.
Open my heart and eyes that I may see
and realize when Jesus walks with me.
Tears
March 25, 2016
A gray forlorn sky slowly darkens.
As the birds stop singing and seek shelter,
silence spreads as if all creatures
were holding their breath.
Ominous dark clouds roll in.
A slow soft rain begins.
As the storm intensifies,
the morning is replaced by twilight.
Flashes of light break the darkness as the storm roars.
Now directly overhead,
the thunder endlessly pounces upon lightning.
The heavens open pouring water as if to drown the earth.
As I watch in dazed wonder,
water streams down the cross,
washing the blood away,
washing my sins away.
