Surf
July 24, 2016
I hear the surf.
When I hear it,
I may standstill and listen…
or I may choose to walk toward or away.
What I hear changes.
The surf may crash like thunder
or it may only murmur.
The surf comes in.
The surf goes out
Yet the ocean is always present.
I may wade through the surf and into the ocean.
If I lay back, the water supports me.
I float weightless….
During the day, I look up into light so bright it is blinding.
At night, I gaze into the inky depths of space that reveals eternity.
Even in the infinite emptiness,
no matter where I turn and look,
there is light piercing the darkness.
So it is with God.
Walls
July 16, 2016
I put up walls making a fortress
Surrounding my heart and mind
Early on I limited others’ access
Making a safe place no one could find
Walls isolate keeping me unaffected
Hiding my thoughts and feelings insecure
Concealing fears of being rejected
Cloaking worry of a future unsure
Walls are very good at protection
But they also keep me detained
In a prison of my own creation
So strong, the walls are now ingrained
Most High glorious God hear my calls
Please fill me with your love divine
Giving me courage to drop my walls
So I can truly live this life of mine
Heavenly Father

Heavenly Father, Almighty God
Blessed be your Holy Name
Please have mercy upon me.
Forgive my sins and cleanse my heart,
Filling me with your Holy Spirit.
Amen
Fog
July 3, 2016
As the sunlight attempts to shine through the fog greyly,
the water droplets reflect and block the light from me.
I peer through the gloom and begin to dimly see,
Too often l let many things come ‘tween God and me.
