This litany contemplates the love and saving compassion of Jesus through invocations of his Sacred Heart. The complete historical devotional form below comes from the 1909 Catholic prayer book Mary, Help of Christians. Historical wording and saint names are retained. It is not represented as the current text for a particular liturgical celebration; use the Church’s designated books when praying within a liturgy. In the Saints litany, N. denotes the person named in the petition. Historical indulgence notices are omitted as commentary, not prayer.

O ALMIGHTY and eternal God! Look upon the Heart of Thy dearly beloved Son, and upon the praise and satisfaction He offers Thee in the name of sinners and of those who seek Thy mercy; be Thou appeased, and grant us pardon in the name of the same Jesus Christ, Thy Son; who liveth and reigneth with Thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, world without end. Amen.
