Which World
June 9, 2019
Our leaders live in opulent places.
Public servants that are only self-serving
Good words from serpent tongues in smiling faces
Yet nothing for the poor or the deserving
Money and power are precious in their sight;
Making oppressive statutes and unjust laws.
For them there is no wrong, there is no right.
They hide their Greedy, Grasping, Hungry paws.
Justice for all, (all the rich that they cherish)
Meanwhile people cry in hunger and pain
The poor are despoiled and left to perish
Exploited in the quest for fortune and fame
Living in a prison of darkness for many years
My heart, a heavy stone that is shattered.
My food is like ashes washed down with my tears.
Open your eyes and see all the slaughtered.
In beginning, our world was an azure jewel,
A miracle, a magical place of hope and love.
Without divisions, hate or anything cruel.
With faith in our God watching from above.
I do not like where this world is going,
Together, we need to find new ways,
Or we ALL will reap what has been sowing
Ruing our inaction for all our days.
We’re all God’s children, if we become one
In our thoughts, deeds and voices, together
With God’s grace, and help from his son
God’s kingdom will come here now and forever.
