How to pray as a community
Choose a prayer leader. Follow the speaker labels: Prayer leader introduces each section, proclaims Scripture, and reads the petitions; Everyone joins in the common prayers and responses. Italic directions guide moments of silence and are not spoken. The leader may be a lay person.
- Choose a day and make the Sign of the Cross.
- Pray the opening prayer and pause with Scripture.
- Pray with the day’s theme and offer your intentions.
- Offer the Prayer of Thanksgiving for the Visit together.
- Close with the traditional prayers and a small act of charity.
Pray one day at a time over nine days. You can revisit any day, and your progress stays in this browser. A missed day is an invitation to return gently.
Source & adaptation
The nine daily themes and devotional direction are based on the Vincentian Congregation’s Novena to St. Vincent de Paul. The guided community prayers and reflections here are newly written adaptations, not a verbatim reproduction or an official edition. Traditional common prayers are included.
The congregation’s full order also includes a hymn, Psalm 27, intercessions, an offering, a litany, and a final blessing. For its exact prayers and complete litany, use the original below.

All nine readings are included in full using the public-domain Douay-Rheims Bible, Challoner revision. Verse numbering follows that translation. Text checked against Douay-Rheims Bible Online.
