About this novena

Saint Catherine Labouré was a Daughter of Charity associated with the Marian apparitions of 1830 and the Miraculous Medal. Her life also included decades of care for older people and others in need. This nine-day community companion is newly written for Prayers and Reflections, not a transcription of an established novena or an officially approved liturgical text. The linked Daughters of Charity biography supplies historical background, not the words of these prayers. We ask her intercession while directing our worship and trust to God. Pray one day each day for nine days. No particular outcome is guaranteed.

The guided companion follows the St. Vincent novena’s six sections. The nine-day Scripture cycle follows the St. Vincent companion. Scripture, reflection, intentions and thanksgiving are companion additions; the devotional prayer text is preserved. Scripture readings use the public-domain Douay-Rheims Bible. Added community prayers and reflections are original devotional texts.

How to pray this novena

Mangidaulo iti kararag

Choose one day at a time. One person reads the Prayer leader parts; everyone joins the shared responses. If praying alone, read both parts. These original site-authored community prayers are devotional additions, not a traditional novena transcription.

Opening prayer

God our Father, we gather in the name of Jesus Christ and ask the intercession of Saint Catherine Labouré. Receive the needs of our families, our neighbours, and all who have asked for our prayers.

Amin

Day 1 · Listening to God

Through the intercession of Saint Catherine Labouré, strengthen our faith and lead us closer to Jesus. Give their caregivers wisdom and tenderness, and help us make time for friendship across generations. Through the intercession of Saint Catherine Labouré, strengthen our faith and lead us closer to Jesus. God of mercy, Comfort the bereaved, the anxious, and those living with illness. Give us the courage to stay near people in distress, seek appropriate help, and offer hope without making promises we cannot keep. Through the intercession of Saint Catherine Labouré, strengthen our faith and lead us closer to Jesus. Day 7 · The Miraculous Medal and Christian life
Mangidaulo iti kararag

The medal is a sacramental sign that invites prayer and trust in God through Mary’s intercession. It is not a charm or a guarantee of protection from every hardship.

Amin

God of mercy, Help us approach this devotion with faith rather than superstition. May its reminder of Mary turn our attention to Jesus, to the sacraments, and to a life of repentance and charity. Through the intercession of Saint Catherine Labouré, strengthen our faith and lead us closer to Jesus. Help us support one another with understanding, speak truth with kindness, and turn our prayer into practical love. We entrust our needs to your wisdom and goodness. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
