About this novena

This is an original nine-day devotional adaptation written for Prayers & Reflections, not an official liturgical text or a reproduction of a particular shrine’s novena. Each day offers a distinct intention and a practical response of faith. Novenas invite persevering prayer and do not guarantee a particular result.

The guided companion follows the St. Vincent novena’s six sections. The nine-day Scripture cycle follows the St. Vincent companion. Scripture, reflection, intentions and thanksgiving are companion additions; the devotional prayer text is preserved. Scripture readings use the public-domain Douay-Rheims Bible. Added community prayers and reflections are original devotional texts.

How to pray this novena

Mangidaulo iti kararag

Pray the opening prayer, the prayer for the appropriate day, and the closing prayer on each of nine days. Name your intention in silence. These original devotional prayers may be prayed individually or together.

Opening prayer

Amin

God of mercy, gather us in your presence as we begin this novena. We bring you our intention, our gratitude, and the needs of those who cannot find words to pray. Our Lady of Guadalupe, mother who leads us to Christ, pray for us. Open our hearts to dignity, belonging, and compassionate mission. Help us to receive your answer with trust and to put our faith into action. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Day 1 · Welcome
Amin

Our Lady of Guadalupe, mother who leads us to Christ, pray for us. Intercede for those who feel unseen because of poverty, language, background, or social position. We place before God the intention we carry through these nine days, remembering also those whose burdens are hidden from us. Help us welcome someone whose presence our community has too easily overlooked. Give us patience when answers come slowly and courage to follow Christ in the ordinary duties of today. May our prayer bear fruit in faithful love. Amen.

Day 2 · Dignity
Amin

Our Lady of Guadalupe, mother who leads us to Christ, pray for us. Ask Jesus to deepen our respect for every human life and every person's story. We place before God the intention we carry through these nine days, remembering also those whose burdens are hidden from us. Teach us to refuse ridicule and speak with particular care about the vulnerable. Give us patience when answers come slowly and courage to follow Christ in the ordinary duties of today. May our prayer bear fruit in faithful love. Amen.

Day 3 · Trust
Amin

Our Lady of Guadalupe, mother who leads us to Christ, pray for us. Bring the anxieties of families and communities before the loving mercy of your Son. We place before God the intention we carry through these nine days, remembering also those whose burdens are hidden from us. Help us offer reassurance through dependable action rather than promises we cannot keep. Give us patience when answers come slowly and courage to follow Christ in the ordinary duties of today. May our prayer bear fruit in faithful love. Amen.

Day 4 · Culture
Amin

Our Lady of Guadalupe, mother who leads us to Christ, pray for us. Pray for communities seeking to live the Gospel within their own language and traditions. We place before God the intention we carry through these nine days, remembering also those whose burdens are hidden from us. Teach us to honour what is good and to learn without prejudice. Give us patience when answers come slowly and courage to follow Christ in the ordinary duties of today. May our prayer bear fruit in faithful love. Amen.

Day 5 · The poor
Amin

Our Lady of Guadalupe, mother who leads us to Christ, pray for us. Remember those who work hard yet cannot secure food, shelter, or basic care. We place before God the intention we carry through these nine days, remembering also those whose burdens are hidden from us. Move us to share responsibly and support just treatment of our neighbours. Give us patience when answers come slowly and courage to follow Christ in the ordinary duties of today. May our prayer bear fruit in faithful love. Amen.

Day 6 · Family bonds
Amin

Our Lady of Guadalupe, mother who leads us to Christ, pray for us. Ask Christ to heal divisions between generations and strengthen relationships strained by migration. We place before God the intention we carry through these nine days, remembering also those whose burdens are hidden from us. Help us listen patiently and reconnect with a relative who feels forgotten. Give us patience when answers come slowly and courage to follow Christ in the ordinary duties of today. May our prayer bear fruit in faithful love. Amen.

Day 7 · Mission
Amin

Our Lady of Guadalupe, mother who leads us to Christ, pray for us. Encourage those called to share the good news through humble, ordinary acts of love. We place before God the intention we carry through these nine days, remembering also those whose burdens are hidden from us. Teach us to speak of faith with respect and never with coercion. Give us patience when answers come slowly and courage to follow Christ in the ordinary duties of today. May our prayer bear fruit in faithful love. Amen.

Day 8 · Care for life
Amin

Our Lady of Guadalupe, mother who leads us to Christ, pray for us. Bring before your Son unborn children, mothers, elders, and people living with disability. We place before God the intention we carry through these nine days, remembering also those whose burdens are hidden from us. Help us offer practical support that protects dignity at every stage of life. Give us patience when answers come slowly and courage to follow Christ in the ordinary duties of today. May our prayer bear fruit in faithful love. Amen.

Day 9 · A home for all
Amin

Our Lady of Guadalupe, mother who leads us to Christ, pray for us. Receive our intention and pray for communities where nobody is treated as disposable. We place before God the intention we carry through these nine days, remembering also those whose burdens are hidden from us. Lead us to build belonging through a lasting commitment of service and friendship. Give us patience when answers come slowly and courage to follow Christ in the ordinary duties of today. May our prayer bear fruit in faithful love. Amen.

Closing prayer

Amin

Heavenly Father, receive the prayers we have offered today. Let dignity, belonging, and compassionate mission take root in our daily choices. Give help to those in distress, wisdom to those who care for them, and hope to those who feel forgotten. We entrust our intention to your loving providence without demanding a particular outcome. Keep us faithful to Jesus and generous toward our neighbour. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Mangidaulo iti kararag

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Amin

Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Mangidaulo iti kararag

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

Amin

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Prayers and Reflections strives to provide faithful and accurate Catholic prayers and devotional materials in different Philippine languages.

Some prayer texts are obtained from existing Catholic websites and devotional sources. While these sources are selected with care, not all translations have documented ecclesiastical approval or have undergone independent theological and linguistic verification.

Some translations may therefore contain unintentional differences, variations in wording, or inaccuracies.

Our translation verification and improvement process is ongoing. We welcome corrections and suggestions from clergy, Catholic scholars, and knowledgeable native speakers.

The inclusion of a prayer does not imply official approval by the Catholic Church unless such approval is expressly identified and verified.
