About this novena

This is an original nine-day devotional adaptation written for Prayers & Reflections, not an official liturgical text or a reproduction of a particular shrine’s novena. Each day offers a distinct intention and a practical response of faith. Novenas invite persevering prayer and do not guarantee a particular result.

The guided companion follows the St. Vincent novena’s six sections. The nine-day Scripture cycle follows the St. Vincent companion. Scripture, reflection, intentions and thanksgiving are companion additions; the devotional prayer text is preserved. Scripture readings use the public-domain Douay-Rheims Bible. Added community prayers and reflections are original devotional texts.

How to pray this novena

Mangidaulo iti kararag

Pray the opening prayer, the prayer for the appropriate day, and the closing prayer on each of nine days. Name your intention in silence. These original devotional prayers may be prayed individually or together.

Opening prayer

Amin

God of mercy, gather us in your presence as we begin this novena. We bring you our intention, our gratitude, and the needs of those who cannot find words to pray. Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you. Open our hearts to trust in grace and readiness to serve. Help us to receive your answer with trust and to put our faith into action. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Day 1 · Welcome grace
Amin

Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you. Ask your Son to free us from the belief that we must face every difficulty alone. We place before God the intention we carry through these nine days, remembering also those whose burdens are hidden from us. Help us receive the kindness offered by another person today. Give us patience when answers come slowly and courage to follow Christ in the ordinary duties of today. May our prayer bear fruit in faithful love. Amen.

Day 2 · Listen to God
Amin

Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you. Teach us to make room for God's word amid noise, hurry, and anxious thoughts. We place before God the intention we carry through these nine days, remembering also those whose burdens are hidden from us. Lead us to set aside quiet time to hear the Gospel attentively. Give us patience when answers come slowly and courage to follow Christ in the ordinary duties of today. May our prayer bear fruit in faithful love. Amen.

Day 3 · Trust in hardship
Amin

Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you. Bring before Jesus the families who struggle with grief, illness, or uncertain work. We place before God the intention we carry through these nine days, remembering also those whose burdens are hidden from us. Move us to offer practical help rather than easy answers to their pain. Give us patience when answers come slowly and courage to follow Christ in the ordinary duties of today. May our prayer bear fruit in faithful love. Amen.

Day 4 · Conversion
Amin

Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you. Pray that our devotion may change the choices that have wounded our friendship with God. We place before God the intention we carry through these nine days, remembering also those whose burdens are hidden from us. Help us name one habit to surrender and seek reconciliation honestly. Give us patience when answers come slowly and courage to follow Christ in the ordinary duties of today. May our prayer bear fruit in faithful love. Amen.

Day 5 · Humility
Amin

Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you. Ask for hearts willing to serve without praise, recognition, or the need to control. We place before God the intention we carry through these nine days, remembering also those whose burdens are hidden from us. Teach us to perform a hidden act of kindness with joy. Give us patience when answers come slowly and courage to follow Christ in the ordinary duties of today. May our prayer bear fruit in faithful love. Amen.

Day 6 · Faithful witness
Amin

Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you. Help us wear the medal as a reminder of faith rather than an object of superstition. We place before God the intention we carry through these nine days, remembering also those whose burdens are hidden from us. Let our conduct make Christ's kindness visible to someone who feels excluded. Give us patience when answers come slowly and courage to follow Christ in the ordinary duties of today. May our prayer bear fruit in faithful love. Amen.

Day 7 · Prayer for others
Amin

Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you. Receive our petitions for those who have asked us to remember them before God. We place before God the intention we carry through these nine days, remembering also those whose burdens are hidden from us. Help us speak their names with love and remain attentive to their needs. Give us patience when answers come slowly and courage to follow Christ in the ordinary duties of today. May our prayer bear fruit in faithful love. Amen.

Day 8 · Service
Amin

Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you. Draw us toward people whose poverty or loneliness often goes unnoticed in our community. We place before God the intention we carry through these nine days, remembering also those whose burdens are hidden from us. Inspire us to share time, food, or resources with respect for their dignity. Give us patience when answers come slowly and courage to follow Christ in the ordinary duties of today. May our prayer bear fruit in faithful love. Amen.

Day 9 · Thanksgiving
Amin

Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you. Give thanks with us for grace received and for God's presence in unfinished struggles. We place before God the intention we carry through these nine days, remembering also those whose burdens are hidden from us. Teach us to continue praying and serving after these nine days have ended. Give us patience when answers come slowly and courage to follow Christ in the ordinary duties of today. May our prayer bear fruit in faithful love. Amen.

Closing prayer

Amin

Heavenly Father, receive the prayers we have offered today. Let trust in grace and readiness to serve take root in our daily choices. Give help to those in distress, wisdom to those who care for them, and hope to those who feel forgotten. We entrust our intention to your loving providence without demanding a particular outcome. Keep us faithful to Jesus and generous toward our neighbour. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Mangidaulo iti kararag

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Amin

Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Mangidaulo iti kararag

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

Amin

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Prayers and Reflections strives to provide faithful and accurate Catholic prayers and devotional materials in different Philippine languages.

Some prayer texts are obtained from existing Catholic websites and devotional sources. While these sources are selected with care, not all translations have documented ecclesiastical approval or have undergone independent theological and linguistic verification.

Some translations may therefore contain unintentional differences, variations in wording, or inaccuracies.

Our translation verification and improvement process is ongoing. We welcome corrections and suggestions from clergy, Catholic scholars, and knowledgeable native speakers.

The inclusion of a prayer does not imply official approval by the Catholic Church unless such approval is expressly identified and verified.

Thank you for helping us preserve the integrity and accuracy of Catholic prayers.
