This original devotional prayer asks Saint Monica to intercede with God. It is written for this companion and is not presented as a historical prayer composed by the saint.
Prayer text
Saint Monica, join your prayers to mine before our loving God. Pray with me for the people I love whose paths fill me with concern. Help me pray faithfully without trying to control their conscience or their choices. Give me patience to listen, wisdom to speak when needed, and humility to recognize my own need for conversion. Ask the Lord to surround them with good companions and opportunities for grace. Intercede for the intentions I now hold in silence, especially for those who have no one to pray with them. May every grace we receive draw us closer to Jesus and make us more ready to serve our neighbour. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
