This original devotional prayer asks Saint Vincent de Paul to intercede with God. It is written for this companion and is not presented as a historical prayer composed by the saint.
Prayer text
Saint Vincent de Paul, join your prayers to mine before our loving God. Pray that I may recognize Christ in people who are poor, lonely or overlooked. Help me listen to their needs rather than assume I know what is best. Make me generous with my time and careful with the resources entrusted to me. Ask God to join compassion with wise action, so that my service respects every person’s dignity. Intercede for the intentions I now hold in silence, especially for those who have no one to pray with them. May every grace we receive draw us closer to Jesus and make us more ready to serve our neighbour. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
