About this prayer
This ancient Marian prayer asks the Mother of God for her intercession and protection. The Latin text follows the established form published in the Preces Latinae prayer collection, which identifies the Roman Breviary and Raccolta as sources. Sub tuum praesidium confugimus, Sancta Dei Genetrix. Nostras deprecationes ne despicias in necessitatibus, sed a periculis cunctis libera nos semper, Virgo gloriosa et benedicta. Amen.
