Creator God, protect our communities from storms, floods, earthquakes, fires and other disasters. Guide us to prepare responsibly, heed reliable warnings and care for people who may need help to evacuate. Strengthen the safety of homes, schools and public places. Give leaders wisdom to invest in prevention and honest emergency planning. Teach us to care for the land and water entrusted to us, and to remember those whose poverty leaves them most exposed to danger. Grant what is truly good, and help me cooperate with your grace through wise and loving action. Keep me close to Jesus in hope and patience. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
